The L3Harris BNVD-Fused is a helmet-mounted dual-tube night vision goggle based on the PVS-31A, combining image intensification with thermal overlay (fusion technology) for enhanced target detection. It uses a 12 μm LWIR thermal sensor with a 1280×1024 color display, allowing not only thermal fusion but also overlaying maps and data. It performs well in low-visibility conditions like fog, rain, snow, and smoke. The system features an articulating housing with independent pods, manual gain control, and runs on a smart external battery pack, which also helps balance the helmet without extra counterweights.
